BG cancels snow emergency
Bowling Green canceled its snow emergency at 9 this morning.
The city also announced that residents have until 9 a.m. Thursday to clear their sidewalks. An additional
accumulation of snow would reset that deadline.
Residents of non-designated snow streets have been asked to remove their vehicles from the street to
allow city crews to better clear those streets.
Few utility issues in BG
A water main break overnight at Napoleon Road and South Main Street was being repaired by a Bowling Green
utility crew this morning.
Otherwise, Director of Utilities Brian O’Connell reported this morning that a power outage that affected
Copper Beach apartments on South Dunbridge Road was the only other problem the utility department faced
during the storm and frigid weather.
A handful of utility department employees have been helping with snow removal and heavy equipment
operation. Tuesday, while working in the area of South Main Street a call was received about a water
meter failing in a business. O’Connell said the city staff shut off the water and informed the business
to call a plumber to make repairs.
Director of Public Works Brian Craft said snow crews continue to work 12-hour shifts, which began last
Wednesday. Parking lots were being cleared this morning. As it warms today he said crews will apply salt
and work to get the ice and compacted snow off Main and Wooster streets.
