Wood County District Public Library's Board of Trustees want to say "Thank You" to the library's staff, and are asking library patrons to help them do so. Trustees are inviting library users to submit nominations for The John M. Gibson Award at WCDPL in Bowling Green and its Walbridge branch. The award, named after the late John Gibson in honor of his contributions to the library and his integral role in the library's renovation, is presented annually by library trustees to recognize excellence in customer service shown by a WCDPL staff member. Any staff member may be nominated, except the director and assistant director. All nominees will be recognized by the trustees and the award will be presented during a special program as part of the library's annual all-staff training day Sept. 21. Since being established in 2005, the John M. Gibson Award has been presented to eight library employees: Mandy Hackley (2005), Mary Boone (2006), AJ Heilman and Donna Mertz (2007), Debra Born (2008), Kristin Wetzel (2009), Linda Conrad (2010), and Maria Simon (2011). Easy to use nomination forms are now available at the main library in Bowling Green, on the Bookmobile, and at the branch library in Walbridge. And, for the first time, nominations may be submitted directly from the library's website, wcdpl.org. Deadline for all nominations is Sept. 1. |
