Applications to be a part of the 2013-14 Leadership BG Program, sponsored by the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce, are available.
Leadership BG is a one-day per month commitment for nine months that highlights a broad range of issues vital to the community. Through contact with a variety of experts in the fields of Economic Development, Local Government, Health Care, Judicial System, Manufacturing, Social Services, Education, and Leadership Development, participants will expand their leadership skills, knowledge, and influence on their community. These components also increase communication dialogue between the public and private sector; builds consensus among participants, and fosters personal and professional relationships through the exchange of viewpoints and experiences.
Each class is given the challenge of completing a required class community service project of its choice, enabling the group to work together toward a common goal while administering their leadership style and exploring possibilities of effective change.
Since Leadership BG's inception in 1992, 439 graduates have completed the program. These members have continued to serve in other leadership roles, mentored new Leadership BG members, established lifelong friendships, and have learned a wealth of information about leadership training and the various sectors of their own community.
After completion of the course, participants become a part of the Leadership BG Alumni Association. The LBGAA continues the education/leadership process by providing networking and coalition building. They encourage all members to continue to be actively involved in the BG area and its issues.
Prompt return of applications is highly advisable as the class size is limited.
Application forms are now available for download from the BG Chamber of Commerce website at www.bgchamber.net or obtain a copy from the chamber office, 163 N. Main St. All applications must be post marked by Aug. 19.
