PERRYSBURG - One man was taken into custody after an armed standoff with police and the Northern Regional SWAT team Monday night.
Lake Township Police were called out to the 25000 block of Pemberville Road just before 9 p.m. on the report of a suicidal male.
Officers found an 54-year-old white male brandishing a gun in the garage area of the residence. However, he reportedly did not point the weapon at officers.
The SWAT team, and Walbridge police officers, also responded.
The man was identified as the owner of Pat and Sons Towing, Perrysburg. Because he has not yet been charged in the case, Lake Township Police staff declined to provide his name.
The man's wife reportedly stepped up to him during the incident when he appeared in a doorway and was able to get the gun away from him.
He was subsequently Tasered by a Walbridge officer after he did not submit to orders from officers to go to the ground. He was taken to St. Charles Hospital, Oregon, for removal of the Taser barbs. The incident was cleared at 10 p.m.
Charges of inducing panic, a first-degree misdemeanor, are pending in the incident.
