Four people suspected in the kidnapping of a University of Toledo Exchange Student have been indicted on kidnapping and robbery charges by a Wood County Grand Jury.
Indicted on one count each of kidnapping and aggravated robbery were Brittany Long, 20; Hui Zhang, 23; Nicholas Martinez, 19; and Blake Long, 21. All are listed as Toledo residents.
The student, a Chinese national, was allegedly contacted online by Zhang on Aug. 18 about going on a trip to Cedar Point. According to police, he was picked up by members of the group at his Toledo residence the next day, then driven to a vacant home in Bowling Green where he was robbed at knifepoint.
The suspects allegedly later took him to a hotel in Lucas County, where they used a telephone in an attempt to extort ransom from the victim's relatives in China. They were reportedly unable to do so due to a language barrier.
The victim was later released unharmed.
Each of the victims separately turned themselves into police.
