Key Bank has notified its clients by letter, that its 1098 N. Main St. branch in Bowling Green will be closing as of Dec. 6.
"We are going to consolidate with the South Main Branch," said Dan Davis, public relations manager with Key Bank.
He said it was purely a business decision as there is more customer traffic at the South Main branch.
Davis said this was part of an ongoing effort nationwide to consolidate up to 5 percent of its branches.
Because of the close proximity of the branches, he said the closing will "not create a major inconvenience to our customers."
Davis added there will be no job losses as the staff from the North Main branch will be placed in other area branches, including the South Main branch, as well as in Perrysburg or other facilities within the company.
The notification letters were mailed Sept. 6 and a sign was also posted at the branch office to inform its customers of the pending closure.
Davis says the company owns the property. After the branch closes on Dec. 6, the property will be marketed and sold through a commercial real estate company. He said that Key Bank will continue to maintain the property until it is sold.
