Investigation continues into attempted abduction

Bowling Green Police are continuing their investigation into a reported attempted abduction, but now say
a vehicle caught on surveillance footage was not involved in the incident.
Maj. Tony Hetrick said this morning that the car, a gray late-model four-door, a photograph of which
accompanied a press release about the matter, was not part of the attempted abduction.
He said surveillance footage and further investigation showed that vehicle drove to the City
Administration building. The female driver, who was alone in the car and had gone to the building to pay
a bill, was found not to be involved.
The incident was reported Monday afternoon on South Church Street near the intersection of Wooster
Street.
A suspect, described as a heavy-set white female, possibly in her mid-30s and with a short haircut,
reportedly motioned to a girl to get into her vehicle, saying, "Come, get in."
The suspect was reportedly occupying an early 1990s mid-sized sedan, possibly an Oldsmobile. There was at
least one other occupant in the vehicle.
Police say the girl became frightened and went into the nearby Police Division building.
