GRAND RAPIDS – Authorities are watching an ice jam on the Maumee River that could cause flooding in the
village.
Wood County Emergency Management Director Brad Gilbert said this morning that the half-mile-long ice jam
is located in Henry County, nearly two miles west of Grand Rapids.
The issue is already causing minor flooding of properties in Henry County, and the National Weather
Service has issued a flood warning.
Gilbert said the Grand Rapids Fire Department is monitoring the situation, but they do not anticipate a
major impact on the village.
