LIME CITY - Two people were injured, one seriously, early Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 75 near milepost 189 in Perrysburg Township.
According to the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, Kyle A. Napier, 26, of Oregon, was driving a 2002 Ford Focus northbound when he struck the rear of a 2007 Pontiac G6 being driven by Alyssa R. Trass, 19, of Dayton. The Trass vehicle was traveling at a slow speed due to mechanical difficulties.
The patrol said Napier failed to maintain an assured clear distance ahead, for which he was cited. Napier went off the left side of the road and overturned in the median. The Trass vehicle went off the right side of the road and stopped in a ditch.
Napier, who was wearing a seat belt, was trapped in his vehicle for an extended period of time. He was transported to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center with serious but not life threatening injuries. He was listed in fair condition this morning.
Trass was not injured, but a passenger, Finsesse Stevens, 19, of Cleveland, was taken to St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee. The patrol said she was not seriously injured, and she was not listed as a patient at the hospital this morning.
The Perrysburg Township Police Department, Perrysburg Township Fire Department, Perrysburg Township EMS, and Middleton Township EMS assisted troopers at the scene.
One lane of Interstate 75 was closed for approximately one hour.
