Hummer seeks Perrysburg mayoral seat PDF Print E-mail

PERRYSBURG - Laura Hummer has announced she is running for mayor of Perrysburg.
This will be her first bid for elected office.
The wife of Lake Township Police Chief Mark Hummer, she said the enjoys the fact that "the mayor's more of a people job" compared to other elected posts in the city.
She is a graduate of the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing and has been a registered nurse for 30 years. She continues to work contingent at Promedica-St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee, and is also a member of the management team for the Haas Business Center and Sandalwood Corporation, both commercial/residential property development and management firms in the Perrysburg area.
Hummer has a family history of public service. Her father, Duke Haas, is a Korean War veteran and served as a Perrysburg Township Trustee in the 1970s. Her true passion for serving others was inherited from her mother Betty Haas. "You may not see her name on a sign, ballot, or committee but my mom has dedicated her life to helping more people in more ways, more times than any other person I know.
"I find myself in the unique position that would allow me the flexibility to devote full-time attention to this important office. I am also very aware that Perrysburg has a great and dedicated workforce, only needing support and guidance from the administration to carry out their assigned duties with pride and efficiency. It is important that we strive to build and maintain our business community, while preserving the character and charm that makes Perrysburg such a desirable place to live."
