Hosanna Lutheran kitchen project

GRAND RAPIDS – Hosanna Lutheran Church is undertaking a major project of remodeling its kitchen.
To help fund the project the church is undertaking its own version of a sports tradition, called,
"March Madness – Hosanna Style."
The kitchen not only serves the church, but also prepares the food for the monthly "Fourth
Tuesday" community meal each month, as well as senior meals.
On Christmas Eve, Pastor Adrianne Meier told members that Thrivent Lutheran selected Hosanna to receive a
grant to remodel the kitchen.
Thrivent made an initial donation of $5,000 and has pledged to add an additional 50 cents for every
dollar the church raises for the kitchen fund.
Looking at the total goal of $20,000 for the project, the church is now on a campaign to raise $10,000
this month. Thus, the goal will be bet including both the initial and matching funds from Thrivent.
Mother Nature put one minor crimp in the fund raising as the meal donations for both January and February
were designated to the fund. Because of the weather, January’s meal was cancelled; while attendance was
low in February.
Including a fish fry in February, a Super Bowl sub sale, and other donations, the church has put $2,032
in the kitchen fund to date.
In order to reach the goal, several upcoming events are set including another fish fry on March 28 from 5
to 7 p.m., which will include a silent auction.
More items are still needed for that sale and donations are welcomed, including homemade items such as
crafts or baked goods.
There will also be a fried chicken dinner on March 16, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The cost will be $10 for
each dinner including two pieces of chicken, redskin potatoes, green beans, dessert and beverage.
Proceeds from the March 26 Fourth Tuesday meal will also be put into the fund. The matching fund campaign
will end March 31.
