Homeland Security arrests 2 in BG

Two men were arrested by Homeland Security agents in the city this morning during a reportedly
unannounced operation at an apartment complex.
Bowling Green Police Chief Brad Conner said his office learned of the incident at 8:52 a.m.
They received a call from the Green Meadows apartment complex, 214 Napoleon Road, indicating that the
caller had witnessed “a couple of gentlemen” handcuffing two males and putting them in a vehicle.
The men reportedly indicated they were with Homeland Security. The caller subsequently contacted BG
police seeking verification of that claim.
Conner said BG Police did confirm the arresting individuals were from Homeland Security, and that they
were arresting one man who they indicated was a felon, and “another illegal immigrant.”
A call placed with Homeland Security seeking further details was not immediately returned this morning.

Conner expressed consternation that Homeland Security came into the city to undertake the action without
contacting his office.
“They came into town, they did not coordinate with local law enforcement,” said Conner.
“This is an example of the kind of problem this kind of lack of coordination creates.”
