Christmas" this year. His project of the same name is looking to support some needy families in the
Bowling Green and Wood County area.McGiffin is seeking donations of non-perishable food, toys, and/or gift
certificates in order to present gift baskets to needy college students, senior citizens, single parents and
others in needThe project hopes to help three or four families, and local agencies are to be approached for
names of those who could benefit."This is the first year," McGiffin said of the project. "For
the past few years we had, through conjunction with the sheriff’s office, we had done a Thanksgiving
basket."McGiffin said that, among other things, the "Make a Difference for Christmas" project
was inspired by helping with the Operation Bread Basket program in Perrysburg Township when he was a child.
His father, Cloyce McGiffin, had served as police chief."Sort of a family-type thing," he said of
carrying the tradition on.Those wishing to make donations may contact McGiffin at 419-409-0765 or
419-917-1921 to arrange a pick-up or drop-off of items. The deadline for donations is Dec. 20.
