Haskins man sentenced to prison

A Haskins man who pleaded guilty to a number of charges in December was sentenced to 30 months in prison
Friday.
Keith M. Stetler, 19, appeared in the courtroom of Wood County Judge Alan Mayberry.
Stetler pleaded guilty to grand theft when the property is a firearm, two counts of burglary, receiving
stolen property, one count of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material or performance, and one
count of voyeurism.
The grand theft, burglary, and receiving stolen property counts stemmed from 2012 incidents at the homes
of his parents and his grandmother in Haskins, and a residence in Weston. The remaining charges stemmed
from video Stetler reportedly took on his phone of a then-16-year-old girl who was in a state of nudity.

Prosecuting attorney Thomas Matuszak said that the prosecution and defense had arrived at an agreement
for a "blended" sentence: 30 months on the grand theft charge, and then an aggregate of five
years probation on the remaining counts once Stetler is released.
Matuszak said the sentence was reached "due in part to the defendant’s lengthy history of drug
abuse." He said that virtually all of the charges stemmed from drug use.
Stetler must also register as a sex offender.
"I let my family down," Stetler told the court before sentence was pronounced, adding that he
hoped that he would "get better in prison."
"Hopefully when I’m released I’ll be grown up, make better choices."
After release, Stetler must also enter into the Search and youthful offender programs, go into substance
abuse treatment, and undergo sex offender treatment assessment.
