Gardening author, plantsman and garden designer Jenks Farmer will speak at the next Kuebeck Forum on
Nature and Environment June 28.
The event is additionally presented by the Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department and the Bowling
Green Parks and Recreation Foundation.
Farmer and his partner, Tom Hall, own Lushlife Nurseries in Columbia, South Carolina, where they help
gardeners with garden design through educational presentations and workshops. The pair is known for
providing organically-grown Crinum lilies to gardeners throughout the United States.
Farmer has been published in garden magazines for 20 years and his book, "Deep Rooted Wisdom"
was released by Timber Press in March of this year.
At 1 p.m. on June 28 at Simpson Garden Park, Farmer will spend time with gardeners who would like to
learn more about how to enhance their gardens. Attendees are asked to arrive by 1 p.m. and be prepared
to be outside in the garden park, weather permitting. Activities will move indoors in the event of
inclement weather. There is no registration required, and there is no cost.
At 7 p.m. that night, Farmer will present "Deep Rooted Wisdom" stories and will share his
knowledge of Crinum lilies at the Simpson Building Banquet Room.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments. Registration is $10 per person. Checks (made out to the
Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Foundation) or cash will be accepted. Participants may either pay in
advance at the front desk of the Bowling Green Community Center, or at the door.
On June 29, at 7 p.m., a reading by Farmer of "Deep Rooted Wisdom" will be held at Grounds for
Thought, 174 S. Main St. The reading will be followed by an opportunity to meet the author and have
copies of the book signed. There is no cost.
