Police believe a backpack found on South Wintergarden Road is linked to a burglary on Sand Ridge Road earlier this month.
Maj. Tony Hetrick of Bowling Green Police said Friday morning that the black backpack was found earlier that week by a homeowner in the 900 block of South Wintergarden.
The man had initially thought it belonged to one of his children, but after determining it did not, reported it to the police.
Hetrick said that the backpack contains property believed to be involved in the Oct. 8 burglary, which occurred in the 1400 block of Sand Ridge Road.
In that incident, a homeowner reportedly returned home to find a subject - identified as a clean-cut, bald white male with a black backpack, tan shirt and dark pants - inside the residence.
After reportedly "having words" the subject fled with undisclosed property.
An officer called to the scene later located a man walking along Wintergarden Road, who darted into a cornfield.
Police, Wood County Sheriff's Deputies and Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers created a perimeter that extended as far as the Stone Ridge Golf Course off of West Wooster Street to look for the man, and a patrol helicopter was called in to search.
The subject was not located.
