PERRYSBURG – First Solar has broken another world record.
The business announced Wednesday that it set a world record for cadmium-telluride (CdTe) photovoltaic
module conversion efficiency, achieving 17 percent.
The record is an increase over the previous record of 16.1, set by the company in April, 2013.
The module was created at First Solar’s Research and Development Center in Perrysburg.
The tests were performed by the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The announcement comes weeks after First Solar announced it achieved a world record in CdTe research cell
