Firefighters blaze into Northwood for convention

NORTHWOOD – The 104th annual Northwest Ohio Volunteer Fireman’s Association convention will return to the
city for the first time in more than 35 years Friday and June 21.
The event is hosted by the Northwood Firefighter’s Association.
The two-day event will include live entertainment, food and a parade.
On Friday, registration will begin at 9 a.m. at Northwood Fire Department Station 83, 2100 Tracy Road.

Events will include the Firefighter Challenge, Waterball Contest, and a Queen Competition throughout the
afternoon.
A fire truck cruise night will take place form 6 to 11 p.m., with live entertainment during that time at
the station and Brentwood Park provided by the Bradberries.
VFW Post 2984 will additionally hold an all-you-can-eat fish fry.
On June 21, registration will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the fire station. The NOVFA Convention
meeting will take place at 9 a.m.
The NOVFA Convention Parade down Woodville Road will start at 1:30 p.m., with units lining up at 11 a.m.

Awards presentations and a raffle drawing will take place immediately following the parade at Northwood
High School.
In conjunction with the event, the fire department is sponsoring a "Big Ticket Raffle," with
tickets costing $20.
The grand prize is $10,000, along with $20,000 in other cash prizes.
