House Fire
(Updated at 10:33am, 02-11-13)
The tenants of a North Main Street residence are receiving Red Cross assistance after a fire heavily damaged the house they lived in Sunday morning.
Bowling Green firefighters were called to the two-story home at 914 N. Main St. at 6:04 a.m. after a neighbor reported the blaze.
Four fire trucks and 10 fire personnel responded to the scene.
Upon arriving, flames were observed coming from the upstairs windows of the home.
Three people - two tenants and a visitor - were reportedly in the home at the time of the fire, and escaped unharmed. A third tenant was not present at the time. The home was divided into two residential units.
The fire reportedly began on the second floor and spread up a wall into the attic. Firefighters battling the flames inside were pulled to the outside after it became apparent that the roof of the structure was beginning to collapse.
The fire was contained to the upper portions of the home and majority of the flames were under control by 6:20 a.m.
A cause is yet undetermined in the blaze, and a damage estimate was not available.
