House Fire
(Updated at 10:33am, 02-11-13)
The tenants of a North Main Street residence are receiving Red Cross assistance after a fire heavily damaged the house they lived in Sunday morning.
Bowling Green firefighters were called to the two-story home at 914 N. Main St. at 6:04 a.m. after a neighbor reported the blaze.
Four fire trucks and 10 fire personnel responded to the scene.
Upon arriving, flames were observed coming from the upstairs windows of the home.
Three people - two tenants and a visitor - were reportedly in the home at the time of the fire, and escaped unharmed. A third tenant was not present at the time. The home was divided into two residential units.
The fire reportedly began on the second floor and spread up a wall into the attic. Firefighters battling the flames inside were pulled to the outside after it became apparent that the roof of the structure was beginning to collapse.
The fire was contained to the upper portions of the home and majority of the flames were under control by 6:20 a.m.
A cause is yet undetermined in the blaze, and a damage estimate was not available.

My son and 6 month old grand daughter have lost their home and everything they own in this fire. I am pleading to everyone that if they can help him and my grand daughter in any way with donations of furniture, clothing, necessities as well as cash donations. I am actively researching to find him a place to call home. I live out of state and have not been able to be there. Any suggestions on rental properties would be appreciated. The Red Cross has all the information on how to contact him as well as I. Please contact me by email to forward the details to him. Bless everyone for there support to get him and his daughter back on their feet. My email is laurie10215@yahoo.com

This was my cousins apartment that burnt. Thankfully he wasn't home at the time it happened. He lost everything though. He has a 6 month old daughter and lost everything they had in this fire. The important thing though is that their both safe.

This is a good reminder to get RENTER'S insurance. It is really not that expensive and will not only cover your belongings, but protect you in case you are found to be somewhat at fault. In that case, a landlord's insurance company could sue you for the entire cost of the building, too. A good landlord would require it.

This isn't about renter's insurance. They need help and BG residents need to step up to the plate and help out another resident and his baby. Hello people, a baby,,,,,the baby wasn't aborted so let's get out there and help.
