The Bowling Green Fire Division is investigating the cause of a blaze in a garage at 211 Eberly Ave. Wednesday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the residence just after 1 p.m. on the report of a fire in an unattached garage on the property. Upon arrival, flames were observed coming from the service door area on the west side of the structure, and from the eaves on the north and west side. The garage sustained extensive damage both to structure and contents. A financial estimate of loss was not available this morning. A cause is not yet known, though a report on the fire indicated that it was not intentional. A campfire to burn brush had been in use sometime prior to the fire some 12 feet from the structure, and appliances including a space heater had also been in use previously. Crews remained on-scene until 3 p.m. |
