Feeding turtles, river-side fire offered by county park district

• Paddle the Pond, Mondays through August, 4 to 7 p.m., W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, 29530 White Road,
Perrysburg – Take a canoe for a spin on the pond. If you have never canoed, this is a great way to give
it a try. Canoes, paddles, life preservers and instructions are provided. There is no charge all
supplies are provided. Canoes will be used on a first-come, first-served basis. Join a park district
ranger the first Monday of the month for more in-depth canoe instruction. No registration necessary.
• Native Nursery Night, 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Reuthinger Preserve, 30730 Oregon Road, Perrysburg –
Volunteers at the Native Plant Nursery and Greenhouse may be asked to plant, water, weed and collect
seed. Dress to work outdoors and bring gloves if you have them.
• Feeding Time: Box Turtle, 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. July 14, W.W. Knight Nature Preserve, Friends’ Green Room,
29530 White Road, Perrysburg – This is your chance to get up close and personal with program animals.
Find out what it eats and learn interesting facts about this reptile.
• Fire by the River, 5 to 9 p.m. July 18, Otsego Park, 20000 West River Road, Bowling Green – Enjoy an
evening around the fire along the mighty Maumee including yard games treats from the Dutch oven. Please
bring your own chair and bug spray.
• Stream Quality Monitoring, 1 to 3 p.m. July 19, Buttonwood/Betty C. Black Recreation Area, 27174 Hull
Prairie Road, Perrysburg – Help monitor the water quality of the Maumee River. No experience necessary.
Volunteers will go in the river, so dress appropriately and have proper footwear.
• Ride with a Ranger, 4 to 5 p.m. July 20, Black Swamp Preserve, 1014 S. Maple St., Bowling Green – Enjoy
a leisurely bike ride on the Slippery Elm Trail from Bowling Green to Portage and back. Meet at the
Maple Street parking lot in the Black Swamp Preserve.
