BLOOMDALEÂ - A Pemberville man is dead following a single-vehicle crash in the 4000 block of Bloomdale Road, just north of Oil Center Road, Sunday. Mitchell Aring, 30, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene. The Wood County Sheriff's Office reports that Matthew Nissen, Pemberville, driving a 2001 Ford F-150, was northbound on Bloomdale Road when he traveled off the right side of the road, overcorrected, traveled off the left side of the road, and then rolled three times in a open field. The vehicle then struck a tree. Nissen was taken to Toledo Hospital by air ambulance with incapacitating injuries. He was not wearing a seat belt. Aring was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. The time the crash occurred was not available, but it was reported that the incident took place in the early morning hours and was not discovered until approximately 6:30 a.m. The crash report on the incident was incomplete this morning. |

In most cases, seatbelts protect the wearer. As the crash report is incomplete, there is no way to tell if the injuries of the deceased were related to being belted in. Perhaps his injuries were so profound that death would have occurred regardless.
My heart goes out to their families; I pray that the survivor pulls through.
really? someone is dead, and another is seriously injured. and you are going to make an argument against seat belt laws? go buy a heart.
