Lisa Barndt RN holds newborn Karli Stallard in the Family Birthing Center at Wood County Hospital. Lisa was awarded the 2013 Wood County Hospital Nurse Excellence Award in May as part of Nurses Week activities which were held May 3-10. The Nurse Excellence Award, now in its third year, is given annually during National Nurses Week to a nurse who is nominated by her peers, manager, or a physician. The selection committee makes the decision based upon nine categories that include customer service, mentoring, patient advocacy, clinical care, education of both the patient and their family, and an individual who goes above the call of duty. Barndt, a certified obstetrics nurse, has worked at Wood County Hospital since 1996 and was nominated by two co-worker who stated that she is skilled, kind, resourceful, a great educator, and a team player. Barndt lives in Wayne with her husband Doug. They have been married for 29 years and have two adult children.
