There will be at least three new fair board members for the 2012-13 season. The slate of candidates was released by the Wood County Agricultural Society on Tuesday. The board is generally referred to as the Senior Fair Board. The most interesting race will be for the Liberty Township seat on the board. Two current board members will vie for the one seat. Rod Lucas currently holds the seat. He is being challenged by Conni Grames, who chose not to run for the at-large seat she currently holds. As no one filed petitions for that seat, it will need to be filled appointment by the board. Board members returning to their seats, as they are running unopposed are Mike Trout, Bloom Township; Dale Brown, Center Township; Dave Nietz, Lake Township and Jobe McMillin, Perrysburg Township. Tim Johnson is also running unopposed for the Plain Township seat. He will replace Ashley Vetter, who did not file nominating petitions. Also leaving the board this year will be Roger Swope, who represented Henry Township and Krysteena Brown, of Weston Township. Three candidates filed petitions for each of those seat. In addition to the Liberty Township race, the other contested races will feature Carla Crocker, David Ferstermaker and Terie Patton to represent Henry Township; and Michael Brown, Brian Langley and Mindy Ringler in the Weston race. Voting for members will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Junior Fair Building. |
