Ex-trooper fined for disorderly conduct

A former trooper with the Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is to pay a fine on a disorderly
conduct charge in relation to a December incident in Bowling Green.
Shane Johnson, 43, Bowling Green, appeared last month in Bowling Green Municipal Court.
Johnson originally pleaded not guilty to a charge of domestic violence, a first-degree misdemeanor, in
the incident.
The matter was reported in the 600 block of Hillcrest Drive. A female complainant stated that Johnson
"shook her, pulled her hair, and struck her in the forehead," and then struck her vehicle with
a hammer as she attempted to leave the residence in her car.
Information on the Bowling Green Municipal Court website indicates that on June 18, Johnson appeared in
court, and his attorney’s motion to amend the charge to disorderly conduct was granted. Weapons
previously confiscated from Johnson were to be returned to him "so long as they don’t return"
to the Hillcrest address.
Johnson is to pay a $250 fine.
Protection orders that disallowed contact with Johnson’s victim were modified earlier this year to allow
contact "so long as he continues alcohol counseling and psychotherapy two times a week."
Lt. Bill Bowers of the Toledo Patrol post said that after Johnson was charged "he was actually
disability separated (from the Toledo Post) because of some disability issues" and was no longer
with the post.
