The Bowling Green Evening Lions Club recently celebrated 55 years of service and fellowship at a dinner
meeting at the Elks Lodge in Bowling Green.
Lions Club President Sandra Metzger reviewed the accomplishments of the last year and the numerous
service and fund raising projects, including Christmas Food Baskets, poinsettias for nursing homes,
eyeglasses for the needy and 2,800 recycled eyeglasses.
During the dinner,
a slide show of Lion awards, donations, parties and community service projects was shown covering the
club’s 55 years.
The entertainment was based upon the "Golf Outing" theme of the night.
Ed Metzger was the master of ceremonies for the program and provided golf commentary for the putting
contest, won by Lion Vice Deputy Governor Jay Deutschman and Dr. Bob Goulding.
Max Church presented the club’s annual donations to District, State and National Eyecare and Eye Research
foundations, plus the Lions International relief foundation LCIF.
Jim Frobose presented perfect attendance awards to many members, with the longest of 38 years going to
Glen Gamber.
As a part of the evening’s celebration, the club started a non-perishable food collection project for the
local food pantry. Attendees received a raffle ticket for food donations.
Guests included District 13A Governor Dr. John Moates and his wife, Joanne.
