Efficiency Smart and Bowling Green will host customer appreciation days on Wednesday and Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., at the utility business offices, 304 N. Church St.
Efficiency Smart staff will distribute five free compact florescent light bulbs while supplies last, as well as kits with rebate forms, program information and energy efficiency tips.
Replacing incandescent light bulbs with CFL equivalents is a simple way to save money on utility bills. CFLs use 75 percent less energy while lasting up to ten times longer than incandescent bulbs. There are many energy-efficient products that can help consumers save money on their electric bills. Efficiency Smart offers several incentives to residential electric customers of Bowling Green Municipal Utilities promoting these savings.
Many local business and residents have already taken advantage of the program since it started in Bowling Green in January 2011, receiving more than $600,000 in incentives for energy-efficient products through the end of August of 2013. This is expected to translate to savings of more than $17,210,000 over the lifetime of the installed products.
Efficiency Smart's services include rebates for energy-efficient residential products; free removal of old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers from homes; and rebates for more than 90 energy-efficient products and services for businesses. Efficiency Smart also offers technical assistance, account management services, and customized financial incentives for large commercial and industrial customers. Efficiency Smart was established by American Municipal Power for the benefit of its member communities. It is administered under contract with the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation. Operations are based in Columbus.
