Efficiency Smart popular program for BG electric PDF Print E-mail

Bowling Green and Efficiency Smart have a partnership to save money and energy for Bowling Green Municipal Utilities electric customers. Several local business and residents have already taken advantage of the program since it started in Bowling Green in January 2011, as more than 23,000 energy-saving measures had been installed through February 2013. This translates to 12,515 megawatt-hours of combined energy savings.
In addition to energy savings, Bowling Green business utility customers had received more than $487,000 in rebates through February of 2013, saved $981,638 in annual energy costs, and are expected to achieve more than $13,930,000 in savings over the lifetime of the installed measures. On the residential side, customers had received more than $21,000 in rebates through February of 2013, saved more than $39,000 in energy costs, and are expected to achieve more than $282,000 in savings over the lifetime of the installed measures.
"Bowling Green has proven to be a strong partner and great supporter of our services," said Kristyn Wilder, executive director of Efficiency Smart. "Many of its utility customers are utilizing the services Efficiency Smart offers and seeing the benefit in their bank account."
Efficiency Smart offers more than 90 energy-efficient products and services for businesses that use between 20,000 and 500,000 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity annually, while businesses that use more than 500,000 kWh annually receive technical assistance, account management services, and customized financial incentives. Efficiency Smart also provides residential rebates for energy-efficient products, discounts on energy-efficient lighting, and free removal and financial incentives for recycling secondary refrigerators and freezers.

Efficiency Smart's services include rebates for energy-efficient residential products; free removal of old, inefficient refrigerators and freezers from homes; and rebates for more than 90 energy-efficient products and services for businesses. Efficiency Smart also offers technical assistance, account management services, and customized financial incentives for large commercial and industrial customers.
Efficiency Smart is administered for A<P under contract with the Vermont Energy Investment Corporation. Operations are based in Columbus.
