The case of a Bowling Green State University assistant football coach accused of drunk driving and other charges will next be heard this winter.
William Durkin Jr., 42, Perrysburg, has had his case in Bowling Green Municipal Court continued until Dec. 4 at 1 p.m.
According to the Bowling Green Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Durkin was arrested by a trooper at Interstate 75 and East Wooster Street at 2:54 a.m. on Aug. 24 for operating a vehicle while under the influence, and a marked lanes violation.
He was later involved in an injury accident at 11:20 a.m. the same day. At that time, Durkin was northbound on Hull Prairie Road when his vehicle was struck by Eleanor Bebo, Perrysburg, who was eastbound on Five Point Road. Bebo had reportedly failed to stop at the stop sign of the intersection. Bebo was cited for failure to yield and was at fault in the accident.
Durkin, however, was cited for driving under suspension as a result of the OVI arrest earlier that morning. He was placed on an unpaid, seven-day administrative leave by the university, and was subsequently reinstated. A disciplinary agreement for his continued employment was included in the reinstatement, as was a pay freeze for the next year.
Durkin initially appeared in Bowling Green Municipal Court on Sept. 4.
