Driver, two children, taken to hospital after Rt. 6 crash

WESTON – Three people, including two children, were taken to Wood County Hospital after a collision
Tuesday on U.S. 6 at Potter Road.
The Wood County Sheriff’s Office reports that at 4:21 p.m. Resinia Manders, Weston, was stopped on Route
6 at the intersection with Potter Road waiting to turn south when a vehicle driven by Richard Ellison,
Omaha, Ill., came from behind and struck Manders’ vehicle in the rear.
Ellison reportedly did not see that Manders had stopped.
Manders and her two passengers, Damon Manders, 5, Weston, and Julie Bwa, 7, Bowling Green, were taken to
the hospital with possible injuries by Mid-County 120 EMS. Damon Manders was in a booster seat, and
Julie Bwa was wearing a seat belt. According to the crash report, it was not known if Resinia Manders
was wearing a seat belt at the time.
Ellison was not injured. He was cited for assured clear distance ahead and a seat belt violation.
