Downtown flowers to be planted

0

Both volunteers and donations are being sought for the annual planting of flowers in downtown Bowling
Green.
Volunteers, including members of the BGSU University Women’s Garden Group, are meeting at 8:30 a.m.
Wednesday at Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St. and individuals wishing to join the group are welcome
to come, bringing their own hand tools.
The annual cost of the downtown plantings varies depending on several factors, including weather
conditions. Last year, the cost was just over $13,000 to install and maintain, including the purchase of
four new hanging baskets and custom-made brackets. Of that cost, $2,000 was contributed by community
members through donations to the Downtown Foundation. Fundraising for this year is ongoing and the
fundraising events at last month’s Art Walk netted $846.
Tax deductible cash donations for the flowers can also be made to the Downtown Foundation at 121 E.
Wooster St., 419-354-4332.
