Bowling Green State University is hosting a delegation of 16 officials from China West Normal University in Nanchong, China, today.
BGSU has been selected to represent large public institutions on a 10-day tour of American colleges and universities sponsored by the Chinese government.
The aim is to provide members of the Chinese delegation an overview of academic structures as well as administrative and support services at higher education institutions in the United States.
BGSU President Mary Ellen Mazey spoke to the group this morning, which was followed by informational talks by BGSU administrators and then a noon lunch.
The Office of Admissions will lead the delegates on a campus tour at 12:45 p.m. The group departs campus at 1:45 p.m.
The U.S. visit is hosted and coordinated by Bluffton University, representing a private university; the group will also visit a community college (Rhodes State), and take several cultural trips, including a ride on the canal boat at Providence Metropark in Grand Rapids.
The all-male delegation-including two interpreters-from China West Normal arrived on the Bluffton campus on July 8.
