Fish Friday at Weston Legion
WESTON - Weston American Legion Post 409, South Main Street. will serve a fish supper Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
A donation of $3 for child's meal and $10 for adults will be accepted. Carryouts will be available.

Sat. dinner at Bradner Legion
BRADNER - A chicken and rib dinner will be available at the Sons of the American Legion,  209 W. Crocker St., Saturday from 4  to sellout.
Meals of either ribs, chiken or both come with cole slaw, baked beans, roll and beverage. Cost $9. Carryout available.

Martial arts for Kiwanis
A martial arts program will be featured at the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club meeting Oct. 10.  
Speakers Jon Coates and Joe Whitaker and instructor Wadokan Dojo will present the program.

Contra dance at Rossford
ROSSFORD - The second Saturday Contra Dance will be this weekend at the Rossford United Methodist Church, 270 Dixie Highway.
The dance is from 7 to 10:30 p.m., which instruction from 7 to 7:30.
Partners are not necessary, and beginners and families are welcome.
The cost is $7 for adults and $5 for students ages 12 through graduate school.

Naslada Cocoon event Sunday
Naslada Bistro will celebrate its 10th anniversary Sunday with a benefit for the Cocoon Shelter from 2 to 4 p.m. at Simpson Garden Park, 1291 Conneaut Ave.
Authentic dances by the Bulgarian folk ensemble 'Izvor' will be featured. Appetizers will be served.
Tickets are available at Naslada Bistro, 182 S. Main St. for $20 each. Tickets are also available by phone at 419 373-6050.
Children under 10 may attend free with adults.

Bingo Saturday at Dunbridge
DUNBRIDGE - The Dunbridge Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a bingo night Saturday at the fire hall, corner of Ohio 582 and Dunbridge Road.
The event runs from 6 to 9 p.m.
Sandwiches and pop will be available, and a jackpot game is planned for 9 p.m.

Fulbright scholar at library Sat.
Fulbright scholar and Bowling Green State University professor Matthew Kutz will talk about his latest book, "Contextual Intelligence: Smart Leadership for a Constantly Changing World," at the Wood County District Public Library Saturday at 10 a.m.
The book is a finalist for the 2013 Outstanding Leadership Book Award, presented by the University of San Diego' prestigious School of Leadership and Education Sciences. The program is free.

Turkey shoot Sunday
WESTON - Weston American Legion Post 409 will host a turkey shoot Sunday at noon.
The location is 12762 Potter Road, between Portage and Sand Ridge roads.

Cruise program at Way Library
PERRYSBURG - Judy Pfaffenberger, whose favorite pastime is gadding about the entire world, returns to Way Library Tuesday at 2 p.m. with stories and video of her grand cruise from Barcelona, Spain to Dubai, India through the Suez Canal.
With stops at Alexandria and amazing Petra, a visit to the Valley of the Kings, and the spectacular city of Dubai, plus a wild desert 4-by-4 safari, the trip is wide-ranging and exciting, and the details will be delivered in the entertaining style Pfaffenberger's audiences have come to know and expect. Light refreshments will be served at this free program, and the public is invited to attend.

Wayne Library book sale set
There will be a book sale at Wayne Public Library beginning Tuesday, October 15th. A wide variety including many children's books will be offered at only $2.00 per bag. Library hours are Monday-Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Friday-Saturday 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Urban legends Tuesday at Way
PERRYSBURG - Way Library will host professor Daniel Compora of the University of Toledo Tuesday at 7 p.m. for a presentation on urban legends.  Compora is an associate professor who teaches composition, science fiction and fantasy literature, and folklore. He is regarded as an expert on Dog Lady Island, a local urban legend from his hometown of Monroe, Mich., which he has researched since 1987.
He contributed this story to Ghost Stories of Michigan, and has given several presentations on this and other urban legends.  During this presentation, Compora will discuss well-known legends and explain why we enjoy telling and hearing these scary stories.
This program is free and open to the public.

Humane Society fundraiser set
The Wood County Humane Society is planning a McDonald's night fundraiser at the East Wooster location Oct. 17 from 4 to 7 p.m.  A percentage of all sales in the restaurant and drive through will benefit the WCHS.

Wayne distributes govt. food
WAYNE - The Wayne Food Pantry will be distributing food Oct. 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the fire hall. The giveaway is for residents in the 43466 zip code who meet eligibility requirements.
