Fort Meigs lecture is tonight
PERRYSBURG - Roger Mazzarella will present The Battle of Bushy Run tonight at 7:30 in the Fort Meigs visitor center. Doors open at 7.
This is the first fall lecture in the Sixty Years War for the Great Lakes Series.
The Battle of Bushy Run, fought in August of 1763, was part of a larger conflict known as Pontiac's Rebellion.
Mazzarella is a park naturalist for Wintergarden Nature Center in Bowling Green, having retired from teaching biology and astronomy for the Bowling Green Schools. He owns a summer home near Bushy Run Battlefield which sparked his interest in the battle.
The program is sponsored by the Anderton Bentley Fund in memory of Christopher Perky, who served at Fort Meigs during the War of 1812.

Apple dumplings on sale
WAYNE - Wayne United Methodist Church, 202 E. Main St., has started making apple dumplings for public sale today through Saturday.

The cost is $8 each for a pan of four full apple dumplings. Hours today, Friday and Saturday are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Fish fry at Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS - Alva N. Sidle Post 232 American Legion will host a fish fry Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The all-you-can-eat meal is $10.
The post is located at 12580 S. River Road.

Spaghetti, meatballs at VFW
Bowling Green VFW Post 1148, 719 S. Main St. will hold a spaghetti and meatballs dinner Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Carryouts available at 419 353-6371
Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight a karakoe potluck is planned. Bring a dish to share.
On Tuesday there will be a meat ball sub and French fry dinner from 6 to 8 p.m.

Pulled pork at Weston post
WESTON - Weston American Legion Post 409, South Main Street,  will host a pulled pork supper Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Meal costs  $8. Child meal with hot dog costs  $3. Call 419-669-3532.

Meal is Monday in Luckey
LUCKEY - Sharing Hands will be serving a free meal Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the American Legion Post 240, 335 Park Ave.
Take-out meals are available. For those unable to get to the legion hall and would like to have a meal, home delivery is available by calling Tresa Witker at 419 308-0536. Everyone is welcome.

International focus for Rotary
Bowling Green Rotary Club on Sept. 26 will hear Julie George talk about Global Connections: Serving the International Students of BG.
The club meets at 11:40 a.m. at Bowling Green Country Club.

Kiwanis to install new officers
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will hold its installation of officers and directors for its new fiscal year that begins next month at noon on Thursday, at Stone Ridge Golf Club.  
Kiwanis Lieutenant Governor Rick Kidwell will preside over the installation.

Book sale at Way Library
PERRYSBURG - Way Public Library Foundation and Friends its biggest book sale of the year Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Thousands of books will be for sale, including new and used children's, juvenile, young adult, and adult fiction and nonfiction titles. A large variety of DVDs and music CDs will be available. In addition, many new items have been added to the Specials and Collectibles section, and these individually priced items are all on sale for half the marked price.
Books are sold by the bag, and bags are provided at the sale. Prices are $15 for a large bag and $5 for a small bag; items may also be purchased individually.  

Bingo Sunday at Rudolph
RUDOLPH - Bingo will start at 3 p.m. Sunday, with door opening at 2:30 at the Liberty Township Civic Center.

Red Cross blood drives next week:
• Tuesday, 1 to 7 p.m., Pemberville American Legion,  405 E. Front St., Pemberville.
• Wednesday, 1 to 7 p.m., Mainstreet Church, 5465 Moline-Martin Road, Walbridge.

Tuesday dinner at Risingsun
RISINGSUN - St. Paul's United Methodist Church will hold its monthly community dinner Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Menu items include meatloaf, parsley potatoes, vegetable, salad bar, pie and beverage.
