Curling open houses slated
The Bowling Green Curling Club will hold three Learn to Curl Open Houses next week at the Bowling Green State University Ice Arena.
The cost is $10 per night and includes all equipment, instruction and the chance to play a short game. Wear comfortable warm clothes and clean athletic shoes. Sessions are Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 6 to 10 p.m. and Oct. 24 from 8 to 10 p.m.
'Barbershop Talks' Tuesday
Wood County Hospital is offering Barbershop Talks, a free men's health and wellness program for those who want to take action to improve the quality of their lives on Tuesday in the hospital meeting rooms from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m.
Featured speakers will be Brent DeVries, D.O., cardiologist talking about "Safeguarding Your Heart" and Abby Martinez from Granite City Food and Brewery discussing "Home Brewing". There will also be free snacks and health screenings.

Fish fry Friday in Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS - Alva N. Sidle Post 232 American Legion will host a fish fry Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the post home, 12580 South River Road (Ohio 295). The cost is $10, all-you-can-eat.
Fish or shrimp Friday at VFW
VFW Post 1148, 719 S. Main St., will hold a fish or shrimp dinner Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Karaoke night is Saturday from 8 to midnight. Bring a dish to share.
The Oct. 22 meal will be chicken wings and fries from 6 to 8 p.m.
Juggler Friday at Way Library
PERRYSBURG - Comedy juggler Matt Jergens, will give a free show at Way Library Friday at 7 p.m.
Jergens learned how to juggle during his senior year of high school. During his sophomore year at Ohio State, Jergens had a roommate who was a professional magician, who taught him how to work with agents and create promotional material.
Saturday dinner at Pemberville
PEMBERVILLE - Pemberville United Methodist Church, 205 Perry St., is offering a public dinner, Saturday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The meal will feature hamloaf or meatloaf, church potatoes, a large salad bar, homemade desserts and beverage. The cost is $9 for adults and $4.50 for children. Carryouts at 419-287-4040.
Walbridge VFW dinner Sat.
WALBRIDGE - VFW Post 9963, 109 N. Main St. in Walbridge will hold a prime rib dinner Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m.
Dinner includes a baked potato, salad, vegetable, roll and butter and dessert for a $13 donation.
Euchre tourney in Luckey
LUCKEY - American Legion Post 240 will host its monthly euchre tournament Saturday at the post home, 335 Park Dr.
Registration ($5) starts at 6 p.m. Play begins at 7. The event is BYOB, and concessions and soft drink will be available to purchase. A 50/50 raffle is planned.
Legion council meets Tue.
Wood County Council American Legion will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m., hosted by the Bowling Green American Legion Post at the VFW Post, 719 S. Main St.
United Way at BG Rotary
The Bowling Green Rotary Club will hear Kate Sommerfeld speak on Wood County United Way at the Oct. 24 meeting.
The group meets at 11:40 a.m. in Bowling Green Country Club.
Raising children Rotary topic
Bowling Green residents Edgar and Angela Landgraf will present the challenges and opportunities of raising children in the United States and Austria to the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club at noon on Oct. 24, at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Wood workers meet Tuesday
The Northwest Ohio Wood Workers Guild meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Bowling Green High School Ad Ed/FAA classroom and shop.
Members will begin the toy cars for charities community service project after a short business meeting.
All are welcome to attend.
Haunted Landmarks program at Walbridge
WALBRDIGE —Ohio’s Haunted Historic Landmarks will be the topic of a program Wednesday at the Walbridge Branch of the Wood County District Public Library.
Karlo Zuzic, of the Ohio Researchers of Banded Spirits will be the speaker.
