Crawford benefit in Walbridge
WALBRIDGE - A benefit fundraiser for the Crawford family will be held Sunday at the VFW Post 9963 Hall from 3 to 7 p.m.
The family lost their home and possessions in a fire on July 14.
The event will include silent and live auctions, raffles, and a dinner. An account has been set up for the family at the State Bank on North Main Street for monetary donations. Non-monetary donations may be dropped of at the Walbridge Municipal Building.

Thrift store special Friday
NORTH BALTIMORE - A storewide half-price sale (all items) is planned Friday at the St. Vincent dePaul Thrift Store on West State Street in North Baltimore.
Extended hours for this sale are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Fish sandwich Friday at VFW
VFW Post 1148 will hold a fish sandwich, French fry and cole slaw dinner Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Carry-outs available at 419 353-6371.
Saturday night will be a potluck  karaoke from 8 p.m. ti midnight. Bring a dish to share.

'46 Woody on display Saturday
A 1946 Plymouth Special Deluxe Woody Station Wagon will be on display Saturday at the Wood County Historical Center and Museum as part of its Journey Stories exhibit.
The car, from Snook's Dream Car Museum, will be present from 1 to 4 p.m. Car museum owner Jeff Snook will talk with visitors and reminisce about the family vacations taken in the station wagon.
The event is in connection to the traveling Smithsonian Journey Stories exhibit, currently at the museum through Sept. 15.

Chicken barbecue at Otsego
TONTOGANY - The Otsego Elementary School will hold a chicken barbecue dinner during its open house Monday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The cost is $8.
Included in the dinner will be chicken, cheesy potatoes, applesauce, a roll, and a beverage.

Red Cross blood drives slated
The American Red Cross has scheduled the following blood drives in Wood County:
• Tuesday, 1 to 6 p.m., The Waterford at Levis Commons, 7100 South Wilkinson Way, Perrysburg.
• Wednesday, 1 to 6 p.m., Mt. Zion United Brethren church, 7481 Bays Road, Wayne.

Garage sales in Walbridge
WALBRIDGE - A village-wide community garage sale will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., rain or shine.

Book sale at Weston Library
Beginning Tuesday the Weston Public Library will hold a used book sale.
The sale will take place during regular business hours.

Assistance dogs at Rotary
BG Rotary Club will hear about Assistance Dogs: Achieving Independence from Sandy Sundermeier Aug. 22.
The group meets at 11:40 a.m. at Bowling Green Country Club.

BG author speaks to Kiwanis
Bowling Green author Herb Dettmer will speak to the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club at noon on Aug. 22, at Stone Ridge Golf Club.

Johnson's Island group meets
The monthly meeting of the Johnson's Island Civil War Round Table will be Sunday at 7 p.m. at Carmie's Restaurant, 2460 S. Ohio 231, Tiffin.
Greg Biggs will speak on either "Turning the Tide: The Union Cavalry in the Tullahoma Campaign" or "Buckeyes in Gray: Ohio's Confederate Generals".  The meeting is open to all interested in the Civil War.  Members and guests may choose to chat and dine beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Driving tour at Ottawa refuge
Take advantage of the weather at Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge this weekend.
Enjoy the refuge from the comfort of your vehicle Saturday and Sunday. The seven mile self-guided auto tour departs from the visitor center parking lot.  Gates open at 8 a.m. and close at 4 p.m.
