PEMBERVILLEĀ - Portage Center ArborĀ No. 524 will meet Saturday at Janelle's Restaurant, Ohio 105, at 6 p.m.
After eating a short meeting will include the announcement of the three people that will get the Community Service Recognition Award.
The public is invited to attend.
BBQ pork Friday at BG VFW
VFW Post 1148, 719 S. Main St., will hold a barbecue pork sandwich dinner Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m.
Carryouts are available at 419 353-6371.
Fish fry Friday at BG Eagles
Bowling Green Eagles will hold a public fish fry Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.
The cost is $8 for all you can eat.
BGSU dean Kiwanis speaker
Dr. Ray Braun, dean of the Bowling Green State University College of Business Administration, will speak at the Aug. 15 meeting of the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club.
The group meets at noon at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Congo program for BG Rotary
Sonya Kahlenberg, PhD., will speak about the G.R.A.C.E. program in the Congo at the Aug. 15 meeting of the Bowling Green Rotary Club.
The group meets at 11:40 a.m. in Bowling Green Country Club.
North Baltimore Rotary to mark 75th year
NORTH BALTIMORE - The Rotary Club here will host its annual corn roast Aug. 19 at the American Legion Hall.
The social hour starts at 5:30 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30. The club will use the evening to celebrate the 75th anniversary of Rotary in North Baltimore.
Diabetes benefit at Frisch's
Frisch's Big Boy on East Wooster Street will hold a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Monday through Wednesday.
Of special focus is Sarah Herr, 15, who, along with her family, annually participates in the Walk for the Cure of Juvenile Diabetes, also known as Type 1 Diabetes. Sarah was diagnosed at age 4.
Sarah wears an insulin pump and uses continuous glucose monitors to help manager her diabetes.
The JDRF is a nonprofit organization that has been working hard for a cure. Eighty cents out of every dollar donated goes toward research.
Pancreatic cancer walk Aug. 18
PEMBERVILLE - A Pancreatic Cancer Research Walk will be held Aug. 18 starting at the Pemberville-Freedon Township Fire Department on Front Street.
The pre-registration fee is $30 and walk-in registration is $40 starting at noon.
The walk begins at 1 p.m.
Lustgarten Foundation events serve as a celebration of the progress being made in the fight against this disease.
Book sale at Luckey Library
LUCKEY - A book sale for adults, teens and children is under way through Aug. 17 at the Luckey Branch Library, 228 Main St.
There are no set prices but a donation will be accepted.
Hours are Mondays 9 a.m. to noon and 3:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday, 3:30 to 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon.
Bridge to offer 'Understanding Grief' workshop Aug. 19
Bridge Bereavement Services will offer a workshop for understanding grief Aug. 19 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Heritage Corner Health Care Campus, 1069 Klotz Road. The event is for anyone 18 years of age and older.
This three-hour workshop will help participants learn more about the grief process including how to identify essential physical, emotional, cognitive, social and spiritual actions that will aid in healing.
