Food day Friday in BG
Food distribution at First United Methodist Church will be held on Friday.
The distribution will take place from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The church is located at 1560 E. Wooster St.
Baked steak dinner at Bradner
BRADNER – A baked steak dinner will be held at the village’s American Legion Hall Sunday.
The event will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at a cost of $7. Carry-out will be available.
The American Legion is located at 209 W. Crocker St.

Lake perch Fri. at Pemberville
PEMBERVILLE – A Lake Erie perch dinner will be held Friday from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Pemberville
American Legion Hall
Dinner prices range from $9 to 11. Homemade pie will be available for an additional charge.
Carryouts will be available.
Withrow to MC TEDx at Way
PERRYSBURG – Way library has named local author and blogger Mindy Rice Withrow as master of ceremonies
for its inaugural TEDx Way Public Library event April 12.
Withrow is a content strategist at the digital agency Hanson Inc. and a contributing editor to the blog
The Discarded Image (www.discardedimage.com) . A frequent book reviewer and essayist, she is co-author
of the five-volume History Lives series for young readers.
Tickets for TEDxWayPublicLibrary are on sale now and may be purchased at tedxwaypubliclibrary.com or in
person at Way Library’s information desk.
Shopping Expo at Perrysburg
PERRYSBURG – The second Annual Spring Shopping Expo will be held at the Holiday Inn French Quarter, 10630
Fremont Pike, Perrysburg April 13 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
More than 60 local crafters and vendors will fill the ballroom with an array of home d?©cor, bath and spa
items, food, kitchen wares, clothing, blankets, bags, hair accessories, jewelry, candles, health
products, photography, paper arts and more.
Attendees are asked to bring items to support the Perrysburg Christians United Food Pantry serving Wood
County.
Admission and parking are free.
Google Docs at Way Library
Way Library’s technology staff will conduct a workshop on Tuesday, April 8 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Google
Docs. Google Docs is a fully functional cloud-based office productivity suite that is accessible
anywhere by anyone. Google Drive will also be discussed. Pre-registration at Way Library’s Information
Desk is required, along with a $5 deposit which is completely refundable at class.
Bake sale benefits veterans
GENOA – A bake sale to benefit a World War II veterans reunion will be held April 11 and 12 from 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m. at Millers New Market.
The proceeds help defray hotel and other costs of the 202nd combat engineers company B of World War II
reunion. They have a three-day reunion planned June 26-28 in Millbury.
Ag program set for BG Rotary
Bowling Green Rotary Club will hear Alan Sundermeier of OSU Extension, speak on "Can Agriculture Be
Sustained?" at its April 10 meeting.
The group meets at 11:40 a.m. at BG Country Club.
Cancer center topic for Kiwanis
Dr. Robert Lavey, the director of the Wood County Hospital Cancer Care Center, will present the program
at the Bowling Green Kiwanis Club at noon April 10, at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Transportation event at Maumee
The 20th Transportation Summit for Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan will be held April 11 from 8
a.m. to 2 p.m. at The Pinnacle in Maumee.
The summit is open to the public. The event is an annual meeting of interested citizens and area
transportation stakeholders – including planners, engineers, construction professionals, economic
developers, elected and appointed officials, and service providers – to discuss and participate in
transportation plans in the region. The theme for the workshops and keynote presentation in 2014 is The
Role of Transportation in Regional Revitalization.
The keynote speaker following luncheon is Richard (Rick) Simonetta. Simonetta is a senior manager for The
Burns Group, a diverse engineering firm based in Philadelphia.
