Warman benefit Saturday in BG
A benefit for the final expenses of Colin Douglas Warman, who died Dec. 18, will be held Saturday from 2
to 9 p.m. at Checkers Pub on South Main Street.
Sponsors also want parents to help educate their children about the dangers of prescription drugs and
street drugs.
There will be a $5 donation at the door and T-shirts for $10, along with a silent auction, 50/50 drawing,
raffle prizes and door prizes.
From 2 to 6 p.m. comedy host Dick Pretzel and Dynamite Karaoke will entertain.
Live music from 6:30 to 9 will be by Bad Attitude, with special guest Chris Mt. Castle.
Donations can also be made to the Colin Warman Benefit Fund, care of Huntington National Bank.
Fish fry Fri. at Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS — Alva N. Sidle Post 232 is having a fish fry on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m.
The meal is “all you can eat” for $10.
Dinner Tuesday at Risingsun
RISINGSUN — A community dinner hosted by St. Paul Lutheran Church will be held Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 1
p.m.
A menu of meat loaf, parsley potatoes, green beans, a salad bar, pie and drink will be available for a
free will offering.
Legion Council meets Tuesday
Wood County Council American Legion will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the North Baltimore American Legion
Post.
Kiwanis to hear park program
Deb Nofzinger of the Wood County Park District will present a program on bats in Wood County to the
Bowling Green Kiwanis Club at noon March 27 at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
Fourth Saturday contra dance
The Fourth Saturday contra dance is at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St., from 6 to 9
p.m.
Partners are not necessary, and beginners and families are welcome.
Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students age 12 through graduate school.

Wood workers meets Tuesday
The Northwest Ohio Wood Workers Guild meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at the Bowling Green High School Ag
Ed/FFA classroom and shop.
Greg Gable will give a program on wood stock after a short business meeting. All are welcome.
Baltic travel Way Library event
PERRYSBURG — Jan and Gary Samples will provide a travel log of three Baltic counties Tuesday at 2 p.m. in
Way Public Library.
The Samples are retired teachers, Gary teaching social studies and government in the Toledo Public
Schools and was a Perrysburg City Council member for 24 years. Jan taught lower elementary grades at
Maumee Valley Country Day School. Together they have been to 49 states and 37 countries.
Findlay stamp show Sat.-Sun.
The Fort Findlay Stamp and Post Card Club will hold its stamp show, “FINPEX 2014” Saturday and Sunday at
The Lighthouse building, 10055 U.S. 224 West, one mile west of Interstate 75.
Show hours are Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The show features
exhibits, a dealers bourse and a special show postmark.
Slot tournament at casino
TOLEDO — Hollywood Casino Toledo will host four Marquee Millionaire slot tournament events in March and
April qualifying one winner each week for the championship event May 2 – 4, 2014 at the M Resort Spa
& Casino in Las Vegas, and a 1-in-200 shot at a million dollars.
Participants will also have a chance to win a share of over $56,000 in cash and free slot play. Each week
the 30 highest scores will win a share of $14,000 in cash and free slot play.

Totally Rad Party at Walbridge
WALBRIDGE — A 70s/80s Totally Rad Party is planned March 29 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the VFW Banquet
Hall in Walbridge.
The event benefits the 2014 Rally by the Rails Festival fund.
Tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple. There will be food, a cash bar, a DJ to help Moonwalk and
Disco the night away, along with an Atari/Nintendo Station, a Pet Rock Station and a costume contest.

Steve Alexander is Gen. Custer
MAUMEE — George Armstrong Custer, the famous Ohio native will appear at the Maumee Library in the persona
of Steve Alexander of Monroe, Mich,, , March 27 at 10 a.m.
This is part of the Wolcott House Museum Guild and the Maumee Branch of the Lucas County Library System’s
historical program series.
His lecture presentation is titled “Boots and Bruises: My Life as Steve Alexander by General Custer.”
Alexander is recognized as the official General Custer living historian for festivities in New Rumley,
(the 1839 birthplace of the general), in Tontogony, Michigan, South Dakota, and in Montana. Custer’s
family moved from southern Ohio and lived in Tontogony while he was at West Point.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
