Citizen’s Police academy spots remain
The Citizen’s Police Academy of the Wood County Sheriff’s Office will run Feb. 5 through April 9. Classes
are held Wednesdays from 6 to 9 p.m.
The program will offer an opportunity for participants to learn about the operations of the Wood County
Sheriff’s Office and the duties of the sheriff. The group will also hear from representatives of other
county offices.

Friday lunch at Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS – Hosanna Lutheran Church, Kellogg Road, Grand Rapids continues to offer a weekly Friday
noon meal in conjunction with the Wood County Committee on Aging. This Otsego senior meal costs those 60
years and older $2 while those under 60 pay $5. To make a reservation, contact Nancy Wright at

Fourth Saturday contra dance in BG
The Fourth Saturday contra dance is at First United Methodist Church, 1526 E. Wooster St. from 6 to 9
p.m.
Partners are not necessary, and beginners and families are welcome.
Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for students age 12 through graduate school.
The band will be Bowling Green’s Cottonwood Jam String Band.

Free meal Monday night at Luckey
LUCKEY – Sharing Hands will serve a free meal Monday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at American Legion Post No.
240, 335 Park Drive, Luckey.
Take-out meals are available as well as home delivery in the Eastwood School district by calling the

Tetanus update for BG Kiwanis
The Bowling Green Kiwanis Club will hear an update from Ohio Kiwanis representative Cindy Champer at noon
on Thursday, January 30 at Stone Ridge Golf Club on the Eliminate Project, a worldwide effort
co-sponsored by Kiwanis International and UNICEF to eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus.
Luckey churches form food bank
LUCKEY – The Luckey Ecumenical Assistance Fund has been established by five area churches joining
together in forming a food bank and other assistance to help families in need.
L.E.A.F. is working with the Luckey faith community, composed of Emmanuel Free Will Baptist, Faith United
Methodist, Salem Grace United Lutheran, Zion Lutheran and Zion United Methodist churches.
The food bank would serve both area residents or transients. Organizers hope to share their faith in both
word and deed through the program. The program will assist individuals and families within the Eastwood
School system and Luckey community as needed with necessary resources such as food, electric, or heat.

Tuesday meal at Grand Rapids;
bloodmobile scheduled Jan. 30
The Fourth Tuesday Meal will be on Tuesday. The menu has yet to be decided.
On Jan. 30, the Otsego bloodmobile will be held at Hosanna from 1 to 7 p.m. This is the first of five
bloodmobiles to be held at Hosanna in 2014. Donors should contact Jim or Gloria Kutchenriter at

Relay for Life fundraiser Feb. 11
A team in the Relay for Life of Southern Wood County will be holding a fundraiser Feb. 11 at the
McDonald’s restaurant on East Wooster Street in Bowling Green.
McDonald’s will donate a portion of the sales from 5 to 8 p.m. that day to the Kids Against Cancer Relay
for Life Team.
Red Cross blood drive in BG
American Red Cross blood drives scheduled for Wood County next week:

Legion council meets Tuesday
Wood County Council American Legion will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Tontogany American Legion Post No. 441
on Tontogany Road.
Breakfast Sunday at St. Louis School
CUSTAR – St. Louis Parish in Custar will host a country breakfast Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. to
help kick off Catholic Schools Week activities. Proceeds will go toward the annual School Fund Drive.

Lupus Pajama Jam registration due Feb. 9
PERRYSBURG – The Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter will host its first Pajama Jam March 1
at the Holiday Inn French Quarter.
This event is the first program implemented by the Lupus Foundation of America, Greater Ohio Chapter in
Northwest Ohio since re-establishing the service area in August. All proceeds benefit Northwest Ohio
lupus support and education programs as well as lupus research.
Participants can register online for $45 through Feb. 9 or $50 after Feb. 9.
Day-of registration for the Pajama Jam starts at 4:30 p.m. with the event following at 5 p.m.
