Community Earth Day events abound over 2 weeks in April

As Earth Day 2014 approaches, several community organizations have partnered to sponsor events and
activities dedicated to environmental stewardship and awareness. The week of activities will culminate
in a Community Earth Day Celebration on April 27 at Bowling Green Montessori School.
Unless otherwise noted below, there is no cost to participate in Community Earth Day Activities and
additional details can be found at www.communityearthday.com.
Saturday, April 12: Keep Ohio Beautiful/Ohio Department of Transportation Roadway Cleanup Statewide
Kickoff, Stroh Center in Bowling Green or Department of Public Service Building, 11980 Roachton Road in
Perrysburg. Registration 8:30 to 9 a.m., cleanup 9 a.m. to noon.
Wednesday, April 16: Landscaping with Native Plants, Simpson Garden Park Building, 7 to 9 p.m. $10 for BG
residents, $13 for non-residents.
Saturday, April 19: Work Day, Simpson Garden Park, 9 to 11 a.m.
Great American Cleanup Kickoff, meet at Three Meadows Shelter House, Perrysburg, 9 a.m. to noon.
Monday, April 21: Storm Drain Marking, meet at Martin Shelter at Bowling Green City Park, 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Bluebird Trail Maintenance, Cedar Creeks Preserve, 4575 Walbridge Road, 6:15to 7:45 p.m.

Tuesday, April 22: Garlic Mustard Removal, Wood County Historical Center, 6 to 8 p.m.

Film, "Chasing Ice," Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theatre, 7 p.m.
Wednesday, April 23: EcoFair, in front of Bowen-Thompson Student Union, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Storm Drain Marking, meet at Martin Shelter at Bowling Green City Park, 5:30 to 7 p.m.
Thursday, April 24: Litter Cleanup, Otsego Park, 20000 West River Road, 4 to 6 p.m.
Garlic Mustard Removal, Otsego Park, 6 to 8 p.m.
Rain Garden Workshop, Way Public Library, Perrysburg, 7 to 8 p.m.
Film, "Dirt" Bowen-Thompson Student Union Theatre, 7 p.m.
Saturday, April 26: Wood County Plant Exchange, Wood County Fairgrounds Home and Garden Building, 9 to 11
a.m.
Eco Scavenger Hunt, meet at Perry Field House, 1 to 3 p.m.
Sunday, April 27: Community Earth Day Celebration, Montessori School of Bowling Green, 515 Sand Ridge
Road, 2 to 5 p.m.. This event will celebrate Earth Day and the efforts the entire month of April to
protect the environment. Tickets will be given during each event listed above to be entered into a
raffle for prizes.
Community Earth Day Activities 2014 are sponsored by the following organizations: Bowling Green State

Green Utilities Department, OSU Wood County Master Gardeners, Wood County Engineers, Wood County Park
