Cigarettes blamed in car fire in BG park

Cigarettes appeared to be the culprit in a car fire reported at Carter Park Wednesday.
Firefighters were called to the youth ball fields at the park just before 7:40 p.m. on the report of a
car full of smoke.
Upon arrival, they found a Honda Civic with all of its windows "smoked out" and light smoke
emerging from it.
Firefighters gained entry to the vehicle and found papers and debris burning in the driver’s side door
pocket.
Less than one gallon of water was used to extinguish the fire.
The owner of the vehicle indicated that she usually throws her cigarettes out of the window, but
apparently dropped one into the pocket.
