Five people, including three young children, were taken to area hospitals following a two-car crash Friday at Milton Road and Maplewood Road in Milton Township.

The Wood County Sheriff's Office reports that at 12:25 p.m. Brianna Rodriquez, Custar, was westbound on Maplewood in a 2008 Kia Rio when she failed to yield the right of way to John Haver Jr., Milton Center, who was southbound on Milton Road, driving a 2001 Ford F-150.

Haver's vehicle struck Rodriquez's vehicle in the intersection. After impact, both vehicles came to rest in a ditch in the southwest corner of the intersection.

Rodriquez was taken to Wood County Hospital by Weston EMS with incapacitating injuries and later discharged. Haver was also taken to the hospital by Weston EMS and treated and released.

Three passengers in Rodriquez's vehicle – Alexis James, 2; Summer James, 4; and Ethan James, 6, all of Custar, sustained incapacitating injuries. Summer and Alexis were each air-lifted to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center, Toledo. Ethan was initially taken to Wood County Hospital by Weston EMS, but later transported to St. Vincent. None were listed as patients at St. Vincent this morning.

Rodriquez was cited for operation at a stop sign.
