Friends of Wood County Court Appointed Special Advocates Board has received a grant for $3,994 from the Toledo Community Foundation.
The funds will be used to provide volunteers with up-to-date training tools, by sending five volunteers to the 2013 Ohio CASA Conference.
The conference will include more than 43 workshops over a three-day period. The topics include "Evidence-Based Treatments for Youth," "Ethics and Professionalism," "Awareness of Resources for Teens," and "A Judge's Expectations of a CASA/GAL."
Additionally, the 2014 National CASA Conference will be offering dozens of workshops designed to help staff members develop inclusive practices, build leadership skills and renew their commitment to the CASA program.
The grant funding will help send one Wood County CASA staff member to the national conference.
