H. D. Smith, among the nation's largest pharmaceutical wholesalers, has announced the appointment of Perrysburg resident Joe Conda to president of the newly formed H. D. Smith Specialty Solutions organization.
As president of the new umbrella organization, Conda will be responsible for driving H. D. Smith's growing brand and specialty pharmaceuticals offering. His efforts will bring together H. D. Smith's specialty pharmaceutical assets of Smith Medical Partners, Triplefin, H. D. Smith's Specialty Commercialization Team, Independence Holding Company, H. D. Smith's Third-Party Network and HDS HealthCare Packing, Inc.
Conda, a 40-year industry veteran, most recently served as senior vice president of strategic planning and business development for H. D. Smith.
His previous experiences include serving as executive consultant for strategic planning and execution to several pharmaceutical, consumer packaging and medical technology companies. He also served as president of Owens Illinois Healthcare Packaging, as well as serving in almost all key operational and executive leadership roles for Owens Illinois Prescription Products. Prior to Owens, Conda held sales and marketing executive roles at Brockway.
He received the 2010 Harold W. Pratt award in recognition of his efforts to improve the practice of pharmacy within the chain drug industry.
A graduate of Rutgers University, Conda holds a bachelor's degree in business administration and marketing. He also has a finance certificate from the Darden School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia.
Conda serves as a member of the Bowling Green State University Foundation Board, Bowling Green, where he is chairman of the Investment Committee and co-chairman of the University Joint Investment Committee.  He also serves as president of the Board of Trustees for Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
