State Representative Tim Brown (R-Bowling Green) has announced his candidacy for re-election to the 3rd
Ohio House District-which includes all of Wood County-during the 131st General Assembly.
"Serving as our community’s voice in Columbus has been a very rewarding experience and has given me
the opportunity to make positive changes to the way our state does business," said Brown. "I
would be truly honored to continue my service as state representative for Wood County."
While serving in the House, Brown has supported efforts to improve Ohio’s job climate, assist small
businesses, and put Ohioans back to work. He sponsored House Bill 2, which was signed into law. The
statute requires all applicants for unemployment insurance to register with OhioMeansJobs.com, the
existing workforce development system, prior to applying for benefits.
"Our economy remains very challenging and we need to continue doing all that we can to encourage
economic recovery," said Brown. "We have passed a permanent cut in every Ohioans income taxes,
reduced the taxes on small businesses – in total $2.7 billion dollars in tax reductions to help the
people of Ohio. We have done much to assist this economy in recovery, but must continue to do even more
to improve Ohio for job growth."
Brown is currently serving his first term in the Ohio House. He is a member of the Financial
Institutions, Housing, and Urban Development Committee, the Health and Aging Committee, the State and
Local Government Committee, and the Shared Services and Government Efficiency Subcommittee of the State
and Local Government Committee. This year he was asked to take on the additional responsibility of
joining the Opiate Addiction Treatment and Reform Subcommittee. Over a dozen new bills have been
introduced to combat this growing problem in Ohio.
Prior to being elected to the Ohio House, Rep. Brown served four terms as a Wood County commissioner and
was the vice president of the board. He served as vice president of the County Commissioners Association
of Ohio for 2012 and is the past president of the Northwest Ohio Commissioners and Engineers
Association.
Brown is a graduate of Bowling Green State University’s College of Business. He remains active within the
community and serves on numerous committees and task forces.
