PERRYSBURG – Perrysburg Schools and Way Public Library have partnered for a community-wide book
discussion on March 26.
Sixth-, seventh- and eighth-graders students have all read Sharon Draper’s "Out of My Mind."
They passed the book between the three grade levels and are now passing the 400 books on to the
community.
In "Out of My Mind," the protagonist, Melody, is highly intelligent and yet sadly unable to
communicate with those around her. Then one day she obtains assistive technology that finally allows her
to share her thoughts with the world, and some are not ready to hear what she has to say.
Community members are invited to pick up a copy of the book from Way Public Library and read in
preparation for a public reception and book discussion with author Sharon Draper at Way Public Library
from 3:30-5 p.m. March 26. An audiobook version may also be checked out. Before passing the book along,
there is a sticker after the last page of the story where readers are encouraged to share their favorite
quote.
