Curbside tree collection starts Jan. 6 in BG
Collection of Christmas trees will occur during the week of Jan. 6.
To ensure collection, trees should be curbside by 7 a.m.
All metal nails, tree stands, decorations, and lights should be removed and trees should not be placed in bags.

Holiday affects BG trash pickup
The city's refuse and recycling collection will change next week because of the New Year holiday.
Regular collection will be on Monday and Tuesday.
Regular Wednesday collection will be on Thursday.
Regular Thursday collection will be on Friday.

BGSU staff, students have items stolen in Detroit PDF Print E-mail

While in Detroit for the Little Caesar Pizza Bowl football game on Thursday, some Bowling Green State University personnel reportedly had items stolen from a van rented for the game.
Jason Knavel, BGSU's assistant athletic director for athletic communications, said Friday that while some BGSU personnel were eating lunch at a restaurant in Detroit, the van they were using was broken into. Taken were multiple backpacks containing such items as laptops, iphones and ipods.

Trooper charged with domestic violence PDF Print E-mail

A trooper with the Toledo post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol pleaded not guilty Monday to a domestic violence charge in a Saturday incident in Bowling Green.
Sgt. Shane L. Johnson, 43, Swanton, was arraigned via video in Bowling Green Municipal Court on one count of domestic violence. The offense is a first-degree misdemeanor.
The incident was reported at a residence in the 600 block of Hillcrest Drive at approximately 7:40 p.m. According to a police report, the female complainant stated Johnson "shook her, pulled her hair, and struck her in the forehead" and then struck her vehicle with a hammer at least twice as she attempted to leave the residence in her car.
Johnson was living at the residence at the time of the incident.

Weston man involved in crash on Sand Ridge Road PDF Print E-mail

A Weston man was taken to Wood County Hospital Thursday following a crash on Sand Ridge Road just southwest of the city.
The Wood County Sheriff's Office reports that at 6:40 p.m. Andrew Feasel, Weston, was southwest on Sand Ridge, just east of Liberty Hi Road, when he attempted to negotiate a curve in the roadway and ran off the right side of the road.
Feasel then overcorrected to the left, then again overcorrected right, causing the vehicle to spin out and strike two trees with its rear.
Feasel was taken to the hospital with possible injuries by Mid-County 120 EMS.
He was cited for failure to control.

Two arrested on Christmas
Two Michigan men were arrested Christmas Day on stolen property and other charges in the city.
Bowling Green Police report that Joseph Benson, 27, and Justin Benson, 18, both of Clarkston, Mich., were arrested for receiving stolen property and forgery at a business in the 1000 block of East Wooster Street.
The incident occurred at 10:47 p.m.
Additionally, both were cited for possession of marijuana (less than 100 grams).
Justin Benson was also arrested on an active warrant out of Cherokee County, Ga., for receiving stolen property involving a stolen vehicle.
