WOOD COUNTY SENIOR CENTERS

The Wood County Committee on Aging and all Wood County Senior Centers will be closed Wednesday.  All services and programs are cancelled for the day.

Home Delivered Meal clients will receive a phone call in the morning to check on their situations.

Residents are asked to check on homebound and older neighbors, and if possible assist in clearing their sidewalks.

SCHOOLS

All schools in Wood County are closed today.

BGSU

Campus is closed until 5 p.m. today.

HANCOCK-WOOD ELECTRIC

Has issued a peak demand alert for 7 to 9 a.m. today.

WOOD COUNTY DISTRICT PUBLIC LIBRARY

Will open at noon today.

Wood County
All county offices and departments will be closed through today, with the exception of 24-hour facilities such as the sheriff’s office, jail and Wood Haven Health Care.

City of Bowling Green
All BG city offices closed today.
All refuse and recycling collection is being delayed until Jan. 13. No collection this week.
BG Transit has suspended operations as long as the Level 3 snow emergency remains in effect.
Monday’s meeting of BG City Council was rescheduled for Jan. 13 at 7 p.m.
The Community Center is closed.
The snow emergency in the city means all vehicles must be off designated snow streets. Vehicles not removed will be subject to ticket and tow at the expense of the owner.

Monday's low temperature of minus 15 degrees broke a 90-year-old record for Jan. 6.

The previous record was minus 12 degrees in 1924.

The high Monday was 19 above zero.

The record low for today (Jan. 7) is minus 10 degrees set in 1912. Six years ago today Bowling Green recorded a record high of 66 degrees.

The temperatures are recorded at the city's waterwater treatment plant on North Dunbridge Road.

ROSSFORD – The Rossford Police Department is attempting to identify a man wanted as a suspect in a late-December robbery.
The robbery and the theft of liquor occurred at a Rite Aid store located at 801 Dixie Highway, on the morning of Dec. 29. He is described as a light-skinned black or Hispanic male 45 to 55 years of age and short in stature.
He was wearing a dark coat and dark colored “Ben Hogan”-style cap. Please contact Det. Sgt. Todd Kitzler at 419-666-5230 with any information.

BG Civil Service meets Thursday PDF Print E-mail

Bowling Green's Civil Service Commission will meet at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Personnel Director’s Office, City Administrative Services Building, 304 N. Church St. The meeting had been scheduled for Tuesday.

The purpose of the meeting is to certify a list of the names of the candidates deemed eligible for consideration for hire to the classification of entry-level Firefighter/EMT and any other classified positions being filled within city operations. The commission will also act on voluntary waivers received from candidates who are withdrawing from the hiring processes. The commission will also address any requests to modify, add, or abolish job descriptions.
